In order for successful learning to take place, information has to move from the sensory or the short- term memory to the long - term memory. Past experiences and knowledge will affect the way a person does tasks, which involves short- term and working memory.


Short- term memory (or primary or active memory ) is the capacity for holding, but not manipulating, a small amount of information in mind in an active, readily available state for a short period of time.
