Divalproex belongs to the group of medicines called anticonvulsants. Your condition may become worse if the drug is suddenly stopped.
Depakote ER 2and 5mg tablets are for oral administration. Take other medications as directed by your doctor for acute attacks. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve. SIDE EFFECTS : See also Warning section. You may feel drowsy or more tired.
Kidney disease: Kidney disease or reduced kidney function may cause divalproex to build up in the body, causing side effects. If you have reduced kidney function or kidney disease, discuss with your doctor how this medication may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of this medication, and whether any special monitoring is needed. Depakote 5MG Tablet is an anticonvulsant that is used to control seizures and migraine headaches.
Take this medicine at the same time regularly.
Know uses, side effects , dosage, contraindications, substitutes, benefit, interactions, purpose, drug interactions, precautions. It is also used to treat bipolar mania and to prevent migraine headaches. This drug is slightly less popular than other comparable drugs. Avoid abrupt cessation. The recommended dose for prevention of migraines is 2mg twice daily of divalproex delayed-release tablets. Divalproex sodium (Depakote Sprinkle Capsules) Sprinkle capsules may be swallowed intact. Alternatively, the capsule contents may be sprinkled on a small amount (roughly ml) of semisolid food (e.g., applesauce, pudding) immediately before swallowing.
Your healthcare provider can adjust your dosage as needed. Do not chew the sprinkle and food mixture. Body as a Whole : Chest pain, chills, fever, neck pain and neck rigidity. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased. Dosing required the use of 5mg increments due to the lack of availability of the 2mg tablet at the time of the study.
