Are white blood cells the immune system

The white blood cells are probably the most important part of your immune system. And it turns out that white blood cells are actually a whole collection of different cells that work together to destroy bacteria and viruses. What is a low white blood count?

B cells produce specialized proteins called antibodies to counter pathogens. Antibodies help identify pathogens by binding to them and targeting them for destruction by other immune system cells. When an antigen is encountered by B cells that respond to the specific antigen, the B cells rapidly reproduce and develop into plasma cells and memory cells. It is found in front of your windpipe (trachea).


Its main role is to teach white blood cells to recognise our own cells. They help fight infections by attacking bacteria, viruses, and germs. It releases white blood cells and other chemicals that destroy these threats.

Or it causes a reaction, like a sneeze, to boot out a virus in your nose. It helps mature white blood cells , produce antibodies, and stores healthy gut bacteria if the rest of the microbiome. They are like valiant foot soldiers who selflessly protect their territory against all ‘invaders’ or foreign bodies, real or imagined.
